About the project

We all know that Europe’s population is aging, but to see them as the “biggest economic and social challenge” seems unfair even by definition. Nevertheless, it is a target group of highly experienced, rich in life skills (relatively) young seniors, but when they transition into retirement, their interest in participating in any form of education and recreation is often significantly reduced, as they believe that the “time of rest” has arrived. . Research shows that this kind of drastic reduction in activities with which we filled our lives every working day and often unconsciously strengthened our key and other competencies and, as active members of the working society, also took care of the minimum share of recreational activities, often connected to the workplace.

If active aging is to be “the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and safety with the aim of improving the quality of life in old age”, this effectively means that active aging should enable the individual to remain active in the later years of life and realize their hidden potential for physical, social and mental activities and well-being.

We will monitor the impact indicators, where we will focus on the characteristics of the persons included in the program, such as age, gender, educational attainment, labor market status, household status, inclusion in various educational programs (formal, informal, casual learning) and physical fitness exercises . We will prepare a questionnaire to monitor the data on the participants, which they will fill out at the information event.

In terms of common result indicators, we will be interested primarily in the activities of older participants and changes in knowledge about healthy and active aging and inclusion in various educational programs.  In addition to common indicators, we will also monitor program-specific indicators. For this, too, we will use a questionnaire that will monitor the effects of the program. Satisfaction with the informative event, program, presentation, work methods. Event participants will be asked for a verbal and written evaluation after the event, and the results will be used to determine the impact of the activity on them and ensure sustainability. The organizers of the event are aware that the desired effects may not become visible immediately, but we certainly expect that the elderly will become aware of the importance of lifelong learning and health, which can have long-term positive effects on their further life, especially in the context of their autonomy and independence.
