For almost 61 years, the University of Adult Education in Murska Sobota has been the largest provider of adult education in the region. It was founded as the University of Adult Education at the Municipal Institute in Murska Sobota with the aim of providing participants with general education, vocational education and training, and various skills in the fields of politics, business, science, culture and technology. From its beginnings to the present day, it has changed, supplemented and upgraded its educational offer, in addition to changing the name of the institution and several relocations throughout its history. Throughout the years of its operation and development, the School of Adult Education Murska Sobota has been a leading regional organisation for adult education, lifelong learning, information, counselling, identification and evaluation of non-formally acquired knowledge and learning support.

POU Samobor has two main areas of activity – cultural activities and lifelong learning activities. Among cultural activities we organise concerts, theatre performances, film screenings, art exhibitions, poetry evenings. A large number of cultural activities are accompanied by non-formal lifelong learning activities such as masterclasses for musicians, drama workshops, workshops and lectures on film literacy, art workshops, etc.

Lifelong learning activities are divided into two different types of programmes – those certified by the Ministry of Education and those without certification. Certified programmes cover a variety of fields, from agriculture to personal services and digital marketing. Non-certified programmes cover a wide range of subjects, from digital literacy for the elderly, health issues, ecology, sewing, etc.

Ljudska univerza Ptuj (LU Ptuj) is a modern, user-friendly, professionally recognised adult education centre with a wide range of programs for different target groups. With almost 100 years of experience in formal and non-formal education, we are the leading centre for adult education in the region. LU Ptuj offers a large number of formal and non-formal educational programs for professional and everyday life, with a strong emphasis on the involvement of older people through a range of activities for active ageing. Our programs are mainly in the domain of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, and in recent years also of the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture. In 2008-2022, we were the lead organisation of several projects in the field of lifelong learning, IT courses for the elderly, workshops for the unemployed, EU study visits, a project and activities to raise literacy levels, workshops for young people, adults and the elderly.

POU Varaždin is a public institution for adult education and audiovisual programmes established by the City of Varaždin. It mainly deals with adult education through training programmes for unemployed persons or persons at risk of unemployment, in line with the needs of the labour market, and provides entrepreneurship education for entrepreneurs. Pucko Otvoreno Uciliste Varaždin (POU VZ) is an educational entity publicly owned by the City of Varaždin. It cooperates with the city, civil society organisations (CSOs) or & other institutions (schools, social services, etc.) in the management of programmes that strengthen civic participation, local development and democratic processes. The POU trains representatives of CSOs, volunteers, students, civil servants, etc. so that they can organise actions addressing specific topics (e.g. education, social inclusion, civil protection, application of specific EU policies, etc.) The POU also organises activities to inform citizens about the benefits and challenges of EU integration.
